About Us

Let us introduce ourselves. Our names are  Ann and Vikka.  We are friends living near Annapolis, Maryland, who discovered a few years ago that we enjoy doing batik together and wearing the clothes we design.

What we love about batik:  it is surprising—you never know exactly how a design will look or how a dye will take until it is finished, and you sometimes get unexpected and delightful effects; it is forgiving—you can always cover up a mistake with another design or another layer of dye; and it is unique—no two items ever look exactly alike.

Both of us have other careers and grown families.  Three years ago we decided to make batik a part-time business and test the market for our products.  We sell our goods at a limited number of art shows and at boutiques and gift shops in the Chesapeake Bay area.  We have created special designs and even batik logo shirts for local customers.

We have found that simplicity, using only one or at most two colors of dye over a basic white design, produces a striking effect for a garment that is casual yet classy.  It also enables us to offer competitive prices.

We do this for the fun and the challenge of it, and will continue doing it as long as we enjoy it and people like our products.
